Nathan Buss Nakuta Consulting

Nathan Buss, MHRIR

Nathan graduated as valedictorian of his high school class in 1999, and then earned both his B.S. in Education and Master of Human Resources (from the top-ranked School of Labor and Employment Relations) at The University of Illinois. Based in Colorado since 2008, his last corporate position was as the Culture Curator of Denver Union Station, hiring and inspiring a staff of hundreds across 6 businesses. After Covid policies ended this tenure in 2020, Nathan founded Nakuta Consulting to help connect growing businesses with promising talent.

A natural connector and intuitive navigator, Nathan possesses an exceptional ability for authentically yet comfortably relating to all types of people, consistently finding and promoting the alignment of interest that best serves everyone involved. Nakuta Consulting is an independently owned small business that specializes in simplifying the recruiting process and maximizing the return on investment for organizations who desire to acquire star performers.

Additionally, with his wife and business partner, Nathan co-founded The Wilderness Within (transformation guidance), ApotheCorvus (alchemical apothecary), and Mokuzai Fire (wood burning). He has guest lectured at CU Boulder, performed voice-over acting for the Art Institute of Colorado, given interviews on television and in print / digital media for his charity work, taught metaphysical workshops, and officiated wedding ceremonies.

Nathan is a proud new father and loving family man, smitten with his adorable little girl Hazel, as well as his beautiful and talented wife Alexis. They live in a magical home in Applewood with up-and-coming local chef Paula Parsley and 2 charismatic cats, Oliver (orange tabby) and Miyagi (Siamese). They have a passion for leading and hosting events and can often be found sharing meals, rituals, and spirited conversation with friends.

Special interests and creative pursuits are many, including storytelling, writing and reciting poetry, collaborative art and design projects, playing and performing music (percussion / vocals), ecstatic dance and contact improv, and free hugs. Nathan has been a mentor for over 20 years and has founded, organized, or helped lead a variety of local community outreach projects including Operation Catsuit, The Happiness Sprinkling Project, Born2Hug, Second Sunday Sanctuary, FamJam, Man Meet, and the widely acclaimed Tips 4 Tuesdays (for which he won a Best of Westword).
